Yves Saint Laurent Fall 1992 Skirt
Appearing on the runway as part of Yves Saint Laurent’s celebrated Fall 1992 collection, this suede mini-skirt embodies the designer’s romantic, loose interpretation of traditional Scottish dress. The collection - rich with rainbow-hued tartan, time-honoured fabrics and cosy silhouettes - balanced heritage motifs with YSL’s chic Parisian sensibility. This fringe was a reccuring motif throughout the collection and was shown across hats, dresses, coats, jackets and skirts.
Worn on the runway by model and It-girl Lucie de la Falaise, this piece is crafted from wool in a deep aubergine purple-brown hue that recalls the heather of the Scottish Highlands. It is detailed with black leather fringe along the front wrap edge which curves down to the bottom hemline, and also along the square patch pocket that sits on the right hip. The wrap-around, high-waist construction is supremely flattering, creating a playful, flippy silhouette that sways as the wearer walks. It fastens at the left side of the waist with an engraved black button, and is lined with black satin.
