Thierry Mugler Fall 1993 Skirt Suit & Belt

From Thierry Mugler’s Fall 1993 collection, this suit epitomises the designer’s hyper-feminine power tailoring. Cut from thick black-and-white flecked bouclé wool, the jacket flaunts the signature Mugler hourglass silhouette. The sharply cinched waist, angular flap pockets, exaggerated hips, and peplumed cuffs amplify the body’s natural curves. Two front stud closures in silver secure the nipped waist, reinforcing the collection’s “scalpel-cut” aesthetic.

Though paired with trousers on the runway, the matching skirt is a high-waist pencil-skirt crafted from the same fabric. It fastens at the back with a tonal zip and snap closure on Mugler's signature angled tab. Both pieces are lined in black satin throughout. The ensemble is styled with a black leather belt featuring Mugler’s iconic silver half-star buckle, an emblem that recalls a comic-book explosion, both playful and powerful. This belt was shown later in the runway presentation and likely sold separately. Unfortunately the leather has started to peel on the belt and so it would need expert repair to be wearable.
