Yves Saint Laurent x Tom Ford Fall 2002 Skirt

£495.00

This skirt walked the runway as part of Tom Ford’s Fall 2002 collection for Yves Saint Laurent - a season Vogue described as “very, very wicked”. Constructed in a dense, sculpting taffeta, the skirt hugs the body, its structure softened and ruched by horizontal bands of plush black velvet running the full length of front and back. At the waist, a wide grosgrain sash culminates in an exaggerated self-tied bow. A Ford signature gesture that turns the prim into the provocative, the motif teases the viewer with the suggestion of untying. Ford’s Yves Saint Laurent was an exploration of temptation within tailoring. As Vogue wrote at the time, “What, after all, could be more provocative than a woman wearing expensive clothes that look as if they were made to be undone by a lover?”

The skirt fastens at the back with a tonal black zip with “YSL” logo zip-pull. There are in-seam pockets at the hips. It is lined in black silk.
