Cloth Opera is an independent archive and publication dedicated to the preservation of fashion history. Selected garments from the archive are available to hire.

How Hire Works

We offer short-term hire on a per-piece basis. Rates are determined by the garment’s rarity, archival significance, value, and condition.

Stylists, Costume & Production Enquiries

If you are a stylist, costume designer, editor, or producer, please include the following when getting in touch:

- Project name / publication or production
- Shoot date and pull date
- Garments, designers, or periods of interest
- Intended usage (editorial, film, TV, exhibition, etc.)
- Any additional context or requirements

Sourcing & Archive Access

In addition to the existing archive, Cloth Opera can assist with sourcing specific garments or references from particular periods, designers, or collections, where appropriate.

Viewings & Location

Cloth Opera is based in London. By arrangement, it may be possible to view selected pieces in person prior to hire or acquisition.

Care & Returns

All garments are archival and vintage pieces and must be handled with appropriate care. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were hired. Damage, alterations, loss, or late returns may incur additional charges, assessed in line with the garment’s archival value.
