2000s Versace Corset

£395.00

Versace Jeans Couture was introduced in the late 1980s, shortly after the launch of the Versus line. At the time, Versace operated multiple diffusion labels, a strategy that remained in place until 2018, when the company was acquired by the Michael Kors group. Under new ownership, the decision was made to consolidate the remaining diffusion lines - Versus and Versace Collection - under a revived Versace Jeans Couture banner.

During the 1990s, Versace Jeans Couture functioned as the house’s dedicated denim line, best known for its iconic jeans featuring exposed garment tags and gold Medusa logo patches at the back. Alongside denim, the line offered a more wearable interpretation of Versace’s signature iconography. As the millennium approached, the aesthetic grew increasingly bold, with the exaggerated motifs and maximalism of the emerging Y2K era taking hold.

This seductive bustier top dates to the late 2000s, when Versace Jeans Couture labels turned black and bore a glittering Medusa. It is crafted in sculpted gold leather - a house code long associated with the brand’s opulent glamour - with a boned, sheer beige mesh back. Corsets adorned with logo hardware have appeared throughout the house’s runway history, most recently when Versace reissued styles from its celebrated 1995 collection. Feather-light straps of soft beige mesh are detailed with signature gold-toned hardware: a carved Medusa alongside the brand name. The top is unlined and fastens at the centre back with a tonal zip.
