This brown tweed blazer from Stella McCartney’s Fall 2012 collection channels the season’s play on proportion that Vogue highlighted; the bold, padded hips and sharply defined shapes that distilled “how women want to dress now.” In a collection built around balance - city and country, day and night - McCartney pushed classic tailoring into modern territory.

Cut with an exaggerated hourglass profile, the blazer cinches decisively at the waist before sweeping outward into McCartney’s signature padded hips - a motif seen throughout the show. The wool tweed is stiff and holds its shape, yet a hint of stretch allows further manipulation of the body underneath. Up close, McCartney's modern interpretation of tweed is revealed - it is flecked with rainbow hues, indescipherable from a distance. The jacket fastens with hidden buttons down the front. It has slit cufs which button inside. It is lined in black stretch-cotton.
