Karl Lagerfeld KL 1980s Shorts Suit

This playful suit ensemble is composed of a double-breasted blazer jacket and a pair of high-waist shorts. It was designed by Karl Lagerfeld for his KL diffusion line which ran from 1988 to 1996. Tailored from bouclé wool in a vibrant mustard yellow flecked with red, green, fuchsia, the jacket is cut to a double-breasted silhouette with bright yellow and gold buttons. It has button-up bands at the waist which create a nipped-in silhouette. It is lined with yellow satin. Instead of the usual skirt or trousers, the jacket is paired with shorts of a playfully short length. The tailoring on these is beautiful, with a lighthearted loose cut and fitted waist. There are two pleats at the front waist and belt loops. They have two side pockets and a rear slit pocket and they fasten at the side with a tonal button and hidden zip.

This suit is labelled a French size 38, which is a UK 10, but it fits like a modern day UK 8. Vintage sizes vary hugely so please check the measurements below carefully.
