Versace Late-1990s Dress
This stunning gown was created by Versace for its V2 Classic line in the late 1990s. The V2 line emerged from a collaboration between Versace and Ermenegildo Zegna. Seeking to produce clothing in greater quantities and at a more accessible price point, Gianni Versace partnered with Zegna, whose manufacturing expertise made the venture possible. V2 launched with menswear in 1990 before introducing womenswear in 1996.
Peach satin gowns have long been something of a signature for the Versace house, beloved both on the runway and on the red carpet. Highly memorable examples of peach satin gowns with signature logo hardware were frequently seen in Versace collections of the Gianni and Donatella eras.
This dress is tailored from liquid peach satin that flows down the body, sculpting the waist and skimming the curves as only a Versace evening gown can. Ingeniously cut from a single piece of fabric, it features a one-shoulder silhouette with a seam running along the centre back. A single peach satin spaghetti strap sits at the opposite shoulder and can be unbuttoned and concealed. The strap is adorned with a Versace trademark: two rhinestone-encrusted buckles detailed with the V2 logo. The dress fastens discreetly under the arm with a hidden tonal zip and is fully lined in peach satin throughout.
