Miu Miu Spring 2005 Top
From Miuccia Prada’s Spring 2013 collection for Miu Miu, this shimmering orange-gold silk top is an adaptation of one of the runway collection’s standout looks, originally shown as a dress. Cut from rich, burnt gold shot-silk that catches the light with every movement, the piece features a scalloped hem and an intricately beaded neckline, where emerald-green embellishment forms a horseshoe shape that frames the collar like an ornate necklace.
The top’s jewellery-like neckline reflects one of the collection’s key motifs: jewellery-as-embellishment. Vogue noted, "Miuccia Prada is also being careful to pass her best-selling ideas on to Miu Miu for another season's enjoyment. Her jewellery-as-embellishment idea is now manifest, at a more accessible price, in the encrusted beaded necklines on dresses..." Its molten-gold silk and sculptural beadwork ensures it remains one of the most visually arresting moments from the Miu Miu Spring 2013 runway. The top fastens at the centre back with a hidden tonal zip. It is lined throughout with orange silk.
