Azzedine Alaïa Fall 1989 Trousers
After working under Christian Dior and later Thierry Mugler, Azzedine Alaïa opened his first atelier in his tiny Parisian apartment in the late 1970s, going on to privately dress his most famous clients from this space for the next two decades. In 1980, Alaïa launched ready-to-wear and became known for his cerebral, elevated knits. His garments masterfully hugged the body, clinging and accentuating its shape with curve-echoing seams and heavy, form-flattering weaves. These rare trousers are woven from the designer’s trademark thick, stretch knit fabric. Styled like jeans, they feature belt loops, slip pockets at the hips and patch pockets at the rear. The typography on the original black-on-white label leads us to believe these trousers date back to the late-1980s/early-1990s and red knit trousers were seen in the Fall 1989 and Spring 1992 shows. These trousers have a lot of stretch so please allow 2 cm flexibility on the below measurements.
