Lanvin Spring 2006 Dress

£495.00

From Alber Elbaz’s Spring 2006 collection for Lanvin, this cream silk-blend dress embodies the season’s sleek minimalism. Sharing its DNA with the collection’s signature elastic-waist skirts, the dress reinterprets that concept into a fluid, shift-dress silhouette. Vogue wrote that the collection represented “new, fiercely exciting minimalism - a rigorous, couture-informed reengineering of clothes for women who spend more time striding out in the world than simpering at cocktail parties.”

From the front, the shape is deceptively simple; a clean sleeveless shift with scoop-neck. The surprise comes at the back: a dramatically low, open design intersected by a wide elastic waistband, creating a subtle tension between sensuality and restraint. The back of the dress can be seen in a later runway shot as the model walks away. Executed in a washed silk-blend cloth, the piece reflects Elbaz’s masterful understanding of proportion and movement. The dress is detailed with an exposed zip along the left hand side. It is fully lined in cream silk.

This dress was also worn by Kate Bosworth in June 2006 as she left a taping of The Late Show With David Letterman.
